International Brewing and Cider Awards reschedules for November 2021

The world’s most historic international beer and cider competition, the International Brewing and Cider Awards, has announced that next year’s competition will be rescheduled from March to November 2021 due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The competition, which dates back to 1886 and is considered ‘the Oscars’ of the brewing and cider-making world, attracts entrants from around the globe and features a judging panel comprising expert international brewers and cider-makers.

Ruth Evans MBE, Director of the International Brewing and Cider Awards, said: “After careful consideration of the uncertain months ahead, we feel the best option for all involved is to reschedule the International Brewing and Cider Awards from March to November 2021.

“The health and safety of our judging panel – some of the best brewers and cider makers who fly in from around the world – as well as the many stewards and staff involved in the running of the event comes first.

“We have assessed the current circumstances and taken on board the latest UK Government advice.  We think it is unlikely that world-wide travel needed for our competition to remain truly international will be possible within the next six months.

“We are confident that the competition will take place in November 2021 and believe that the brewing and cider-making industries need platforms like the International Brewing and Cider Awards now more than ever to showcase the innovation and excellence of their products.”

The event, which is held every two years, will run as normal in 2023, with the judging sessions taking place in March.

Registration for the 2021 event will open on 1st July and close on 31st October 2021 with the judging event scheduled to take place between 16th and 18th November 2021. For more information please see  https://www.brewingawards.org/.
